Convert your foreign driving licence, renew your Thai licence, or obtain a Thai motorbike licence. We attend the DLT office with you and handle everything.
Hold a valid driving licence from your home country? We can convert it to a Thai driving licence at the Pattaya DLT office. No driving test required in most cases — just the theory test and eyesight checks.
Thai driving licences come in 1-year, 2-year and 5-year formats. Once you hold a 2-year licence, you can renew to a 5-year licence. We manage the renewal appointment, required tests, and all documentation.
A Thai car licence does not cover motorcycles. A separate motorbike licence is required for any bike over 50cc. We arrange your motorcycle licence application or conversion alongside your car licence if needed.
Planning to drive in another country? A Thai International Driving Permit is issued at the DLT office and is valid in most countries that are signatories to the Geneva Convention on Road Traffic.
If you hold a valid driving licence from your home country, you can convert it to a Thai driving licence without taking a driving test. The process takes place at the Pattaya DLT (Department of Land Transport) office.
The initial Thai licence after conversion is valid for 1 year. After that, you can renew to a 2-year, then a 5-year licence.
Renewing your Thai driving licence must be done before or within one year after expiry. Waiting too long means starting again from a 1-year conversion — so don't put it off.
Riding a motorbike or scooter without a valid Thai motorcycle licence is illegal and will void your insurance if you have an accident. Many expats don't realise their car licence does not cover motorbikes in Thailand.
We arrange your motorcycle licence application at the Pattaya DLT office. If you already have a foreign motorbike licence, we can convert it directly. If you don't, a theory test and a short practical manoeuvre test is required.
We handle the entire process, from gathering documents to accompanying you to the DLT office. Here's what to expect.
